Orthodynamics Ltd. (formerly known as Orthodesign) is based near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and has expertise as a supplier of specialist hip and knee implants for use in orthopaedics, along with a range of associated products. Established in 1986, it has grown to command a high level of clinical respect and regard within the United Kingdom, and in key overseas markets.
At the inception the company put design of custom implants at the very core of this innovative British business. Following the success of the hip products originally designed by the company, many of the components have evolved into ‘off the shelf’ revision and primary systems. These have featured in orthopaedic publications such as the American JBJS, Hip International, Injury and European Orthopaedic Product News.
The in-house design team has experience in the interpretation of scaled X-ray films from which Orthodynamics is able to boast a highly reliable track record.
In August 2003, Orthodynamics was acquired by Summit Medical Ltd. Summit is a well established manufacturer and supplier of medical devices serving the UK, European, United States and other global markets. It holds a dominant market position in the United Kingdom through its range of orthopaedic bone cement mixing devices and accessories and its wound drainage and post-operative autologous blood products, which it both manufactures and distributes. Since the management buyout of Summit Medical in September 2001, it has broadened its sales portfolio to include high quality distributor products which are offered to orthopaedics, anaesthetics and other clinical specialities.
The coming together of these two organisations has enhanced opportunities for growth as well as exciting prospects for product development and innovation.
