Abacus Travel Services began serving Greater Manchester in 1985 with a fleet of just 10 vehicles. Since that time, we have built our business into a fleet of over 120 vehicles, which now includes cars minibuses and executive minicoaches. We provide travel services for all types of organisations and the public.
Our success is built on our professional and efficient service and in recognising customers changing needs. Manchester has grown but the changes within our industry have meant that distances (theoretically) have become smaller. Technology now allows us to respond better and quicker than ever before.
Our main environmental issue is our Carbon Emissions and our control of Carbon Emissions is ongoing. We recently invested in the purchase and upgrade of our computer systems to ensure that outstanding work is always given to the ‘nearest available’ vehicle. This ensures that the carbon emissions produced by our vehicles is always as least possible to complete any journey. All of our vehicles differ in levels of CO2 emissions; however all are stringently tested on a very regular basis to ensure that the levels are always in line with government issued standards. All new vehicle purchased have low carbon and noise emissions, to reduce carbon footprint and noise pollution and to keep in line with mandatory specifications, it is our aim that by 2010/11 our fleet average of new cars purchased for all operations should be no higher than 130g/CO2/km and all will comply with the EU Green Public Procurement comprehensive criteria for passenger vehicles.
We operate 24 hours a day, and are open every day. We carry over 1,000,000 passengers a year and have an extensive list of blue chip corporate clients along with being a major travel service suppliers/contractors for Trafford Borough Council and NHS Direct.
We now use many forms of media for everyday TAXI bookings. We still use our telephones which includes VOIP technology, fax, email and ebooking. Our inbound call centre handles over 1,500,000 telephone calls a year and we answer all calls within an average of 5 seconds!
We are ideally situated with easy access to the busy M60 motorway network. We are adjacent to one of the largest retail and leisure centres in Europe, the Trafford Centre, and we are also on the doorstep of the Trafford Park Commercial and Industrial Area, Manchester United Football Club, Manchester City Football Club and Manchester International Airport. Our other close neighbours include the shopping and entertainment area at Salford Quays and everything that Manchester City Centre has to offer.
