Barbarrie Duckling Limited was established in 1993. To import and supply Barbarrie Duck (and other poultry) from France to the burgeoning continental restaurant trade in Ireland. Since the day the first import of a case Barbarrie duck made its way to Monaghan, the company grew to establish its product on the menus of some of Ireland’s top restaurants, north and south.
With growth came diversification, and Barbarrie Duckling Limited has become more widely known as BD Foods to reflect the still expanding product range.
The business is still owned and run by the Bowe family. They have created a strong and dependable business, backed by the fervent belief that the friendly ethos instilled has played a major role in its endurance and growth. For the Glaslough region (also home to the renowned Castle Leslie estate), the company is a major employer and plays a genuine part in the community, where many of the staff have other family connections also working in the company.
The management and staff of BD Foods are proud of the business they have helped to shape and look forward to the coming years continuing to expand and better the business, and what we provide.
